Aloha Lokahi - Living in Love & Unity

Updated: 18 hours ago

Welcome, Dear One.

If you are a woman in midlife or beyond, you are in the right place. You are reading the second episode in Finding Your Way When Everything Is Changing—a Heart of Aloha Blog Series.

I'm Kumu Kaleo Wheeler, a Spiritual Teacher, Voice Medicine Guide, Speaker/Storyteller and keeper of the ancient Hawaiian lineage of Aloha Lōkahi.

This written series is the companion to my podcast, Her Voice Rising: Trust Your Inner Knowing, where these same teachings are spoken aloud. If you prefer to listen to this specific message, you can listen to the full audio for Episode 2: Aloha Lōkahi: Living in Love & Unity right here: https://kaleowheeler1.substack.com/podcast

Have you ever noticed how the word Aloha lands in your body when you hear it? Not as a casual greeting — but as something older and deeper. Something that feels like recognition.

That feeling is not your imagination. It is your Mana Iho — your Inner Brilliance — responding to a truth it has always known.

Today we step through the first doorway of the Heart of Aloha System together. And that doorway is the first Key — Aloha Lōkahi.

More Than a Word

In the modern world, Aloha has become a casual greeting — something you see on a t-shirt or a postcard. But Aloha is so much more than a word. It is not something you simply say. It is something you do, you live, you practice — moment to moment.

When a Hawaiian says Aloha to you, what they are truly extending from their heart to yours is this: I greet you with love. I share my heart and my spirit with you, wishing you the very best in every single moment of your life.

Just sit with that for a moment. Imagine how your day would shift if you allowed yourself to live in that kind of love and acceptance — not just from others, but from yourself.

And then there is Lōkahi. Lōkahi means unity, balance, and oneness.

Aloha Lōkahi together is not just a beautiful concept for your mind to think about. It is love and unity as a felt reality — in your body, right now, in this present moment. It is the first key of the Heart of Aloha system. And it is your homecoming.

The Teaching From the Lineage

These teachings come to us through my teacher Kumu Mahealani Kuamo'o Henry — a Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) whose family lineage kept this ancient wisdom hidden and protected for generations until now, when it is so needed in our world. With Aunty now in the spirit realm, it is my honor to carry these teachings forward to those who are ready to receive them.

And here is one of the most profound things Kumu Mahealani transmitted to us:

Aloha Lōkahi activates Pono.

Pono — living in complete harmony with yourself, others, and the world around you. It is not something you have to earn or achieve. It is what naturally arises when your spirit, your mind, your heart, and your body come into oneness with each other.

The original Hawaiian people looked at a child coming into this world and saw them as completely perfect — as a light direct from the universe. They raised children wrapped in total love and acceptance. There was no fault-finding, no fear-based conditioning telling them they were not enough.

And then somewhere along the way — for most of us — that knowing got buried.

Not because something is wrong with you. But because we live in a world that has been running on a fault-finding, fear-based program for thousands of years. A world that taught us to look outside ourselves for permission, for approval, for proof that we are enough.

When that connection to Aloha Lōkahi goes quiet, the Hawaiians have a word for that. They call it Poina— divine ignorance. Not stupidity. Not failure. Simply the forgetting of who you truly are.

And in that forgetting, the mind steps into a leadership role it was never meant to hold — pulling you back into old patterns, old fears, old voices that keep telling you to stay small, stay safe, stay silent. Your Mana Iho grows quiet beneath all of that noise.

This is why you cannot find your way back to yourself through more thinking, more analyzing, more pushing. The mind alone cannot lead you home. It was never meant to.

The Prophecy

I carry with me always a prophecy from one of the great Kupuna of Hawai'i — the legendary Auntie Pilahi Paki. She looked at the world and said:

"The world will turn to Hawai'i as they search for world peace — because Hawai'i has the key, and that key is Aloha."

That peace does not begin out there in the world. It begins right here — inside your own body — the moment you choose to stop participating in a fault-finding way of living and return to your own life-affirming truth.

That is Aloha Lōkahi. That is coming home to yourself.

A Reflection to Sit With

Where in your life right now are you still looking outside yourself for the love, the acceptance, or the permission that is already waiting within you?

Just let it sit. Let your own inner knowing begin to speak.

This Week's Pono Card — also - Aloha Lōkahi

I want to close by drawing from the Pono Cards that hold the words of Kumu Mahealani — and that card is also called Aloha Lōkahi.

Aloha Lōkahi activates Pono and places you directly in the flow of purest love because self-love — spirit identity — is in place. It is the foolish mind that thinks love can be given and received when self-love is absent. Love and Pono occur when your spirit, mind, heart, and body are in oneness. Know that all things and all conditions work in greatness in spite of the human mentality. Lack of Aloha Lōkahi places you in Na'aupo— divine ignorance.”

And I would like to leave you with a simple practice for this week:

Once a day — just once — pause, take one breath, and say Aloha to yourself. Not as a greeting, but as a living truth: I am love. I am unity. I am the original me.

And notice what shifts.

There Is More Waiting For You

This exploration of Aloha Lōkahi is just the second step in our journey together. Finding Your Way When Everything Is Changing is designed to guide you through the Heart of Aloha System—an ancient Hawaiian roadmap for navigating times of deep uncertainty, moving past the noise of the mind, and returning to the peace already waiting inside you.

In our next episode, we step into the Second Key: Ho'opono Pono Ke Ala — Making Right More Right, the Path. We will explore a living path rooted in the absolute acceptance of your true, innate perfection. You are a spiritual being who has chosen this human experience to grow, evolve, and step into your spirit greatness. We aren't here to fix the past; we are here to return, moment by moment, to the truth of who you already are.

If you are longing for personal support right now... If you are navigating a specific transition or challenge and would like a supportive space to anchor into your own inner knowing, I invite you to join me for a gentle, one-on-one Heart of Aloha Compass Session. You can book your session directly at theheartofaloha.com.

Mahalo, dear one. For being here. For saying yes to yourself today.

Me Ke Aloha Mau Loa,

Kumu Kaleo
