Thank you for the blog birthday wishes! I'm still surprised that this little blog of mine has come this far and grown as much as it has since publishing my first post in the Summer of 2010. In two years, this blog has really challenged me artistically; I've come to know and love my DSLR more, I've spent more time in my art studio and I've pushed myself to write more often (and hopefully refined my writing skills in the process). It's been two years of tried-and-true, good ol' creative fun!
The bonus in all this is the friendship and unity in my readership. This giveaway is my way of thanking YOU; thank you for another year of support, encouragement and interest in our island lives out here in the Pacific!
Today is a good day to pass along some Maui Love. :) Let's get on with the goods, shall we?
Note: This is NOT a sponsored post. All opinions are my own, and all products in this giveaway package were purchased by me and with my own money!
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I'm a sucker for journaling; pen-to-paper is a dying art, but I love that a pretty journal and a pretty pen can encourage me to spend more time writing out the deepest parts of me.
So here's a journal and a pen in one of my favorite colors. Write!
You need a little more Aloha in your life. This is a deep green soap dish from Peahi Pottery, handcrafted right here on Maui (I *LOVE* supporting local artists); it has little rubber bumpers, so it won't scratch your counter tops. Need some soap for that? Fret not...that's coming, too. :)
This may no longer be the name of my blog, but Living Aloha is a way of life. So when I bought this magnet to put up on our refrigerator (which The Hubs noticed right away and it made him smile too!), I bought one for you...how could I resist? Put it up on your 'fridge and every time you see it, may you think of me! :)
Last year I gave away two pieces of Maui Dive Girl jewelry; I love her style and couldn't possibly leave her out, so this year I'm giving away one of her adjustable cord bracelets. It has a freshwater pearl and a shell-shaped charm. It's an arm party all by itself. Cute, huh?
GO GREEN. I was super excited when Maui began enforcing the ban against plastic bags; it is a disgrace what it has done for our island, the ocean and our landfill. While most of the merchants here on Maui are on board with this program, not everyone is...and I can only hope and pray that they will come around before it's too late.
Roxy made this limited edition, sweet canvas bag built strong enough for books, but perfect for a trip to the market, too. An added bonus? You'll be making an eco-friendly statement while you use it!
This wouldn't be a proper gift package without a candle, right? I love me some Bubble Shack candles! They come in beautiful monkeypod bowls that can be used after you've finished burning the candle. This is a soft and sweet fragrance that will remind you of paradise (but really, I picked this one because it is pink and girly)!
If you know me at all, you know that Starbucks is my happy place. And in all fairness, coffeehouses in general, bring me immense joy. But since those are few and far between out here, Starbucks is my friend. This year I'm giving away another cold-drink tumbler and coaster with a $10 Starbucks gift card. And let's be honest...Hawaii has the cutest gift cards, wouldn't you agree?
I shop at Forever21...and I'm pretty sure everyone else does, too (respectfully, if you don't, I'll bet my right arm you know someone who does!). This is a $25 gift card. Go have fun!
If you can't visit Maui anytime soon, at least have a calendar that will transport you there! This is a 2013 calendar of this beautiful place on earth.
Island Soap and Candle Works! Last year I gave away a similar duo, but this year I opted for another fragrance; it's sweet and fruity and smells good enough to eat (but don't). The cream is amazing, velvety smooth and moisturizing!
You have not properly enjoyed Hawaii if you have not enjoyed guava-anything. My favorite is guava jelly on toast. This particular brand is local (woot!) and definitely one of the best. Get a little jelly in your belly.
With Starbucks being my happy place, many of you already know that I am ridiculously addicted to their green tea. It is happiness in a cup, 'yo. If getting out to a Starbucks is difficult for you, then for the Love of Maui, brew some of this stuff at home. Pour it over ice and e-n-j-o-y. You're welcome.
The last of these goodies is my absolute favorite. Why? Because banana pancakes are flippin' romantic (think Jack Johnson). So save this for a rainy day and make banana pancakes with your love (fresh bananas not included). :)
For my own reasons, I'm not going to use Rafflecopter (relax, it'll be okay); there is only ONE mandatory entry, but you have multiple chances to win!
1) MANDATORY entry: Kindness inspires. In a comment below, tell me what act of kindness you've passed on to someone, or what was passed on to you!
2) (Optional): Follow my blog via GFC and leave a comment telling me that you did (or do!).
3) (Optional): Follow me on Twitter and leave a comment telling me that you did (or do!).
4) (Optional): "Like" me on Facebook and leave a comment telling me that you did (or do!).
5) (Optional): Tweet about this giveaway (link it to this post) and leave a comment telling me that you did.
6) (Optional): I like hugs. Have you hugged someone today? Leave a comment telling me who!
Giveaway closes at midnight (Hawaii Standard Time) on Wednesday, August 29th. One winner will be chosen via Random.org, and winner will be announced the following day.

FANTASTIC GIVEAWAY GORGEOUS!!! Banana Pankcakes?!?! Yes, Please!! Starbucks happens to be my happy place too!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy random act of kindness recently was...giving my left over pizza to a bumb in Monterey. Hubs and I were having dinner at our favoirte pizza place in our favorite vacation spot and the hotel doesn't have a fridge so we thought it would be nice to give the leftovers to someone who was in more need of it than us. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a "HUGGER". :) I hug my son and hubs every. single. day!!

ReplyDeletethis is such a great giveaway! i remember your hawaiian gift basket giveaway last year, i was SO jealous of the winner! something nice that happened to me today and inspired me to smile and be grateful for little things in my life is: i was at the grocery store, just needed a couple bundles of oranges and apples so opted for no cart and there was a ridiculously long line! what happened was one person let me cut in front of them and then another person was infected by their kindness and let me cut them too since i had such a small amount of things! little thinks like that are really wonderful! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI'm also a fan on facebook, too!
ReplyDeleteRecently a mother with a young child was stranded from her car b/c of a terrible rain/lightning storm. I offered to stay with her baby and stroller so she could get her car and load her baby up safely under the over hang. Of course, I am not a complete stranger to her as my daughter dances with her older daughter. =)

Both he and my best friend got together and flooded my text and facebook inbox with words of encouragement (and love from my best friend) to help me get through the day. ReplyDeleteThere have been many acts of kindness over the years given in my behalf. But the one I am most grateful for this summer is my friendship with Kari. She is a grandmother that I met at church who is going through ovarian cancer for the second time. I was asked to be of service to her by taking her to appointments, running errands, and general help as needed. While I am always happy to help out, the real blessing has been what she has given to me...I come away from each visit with a renewed spirit of hope and strength, friendship and love. Kari has changed my life and for that I am grateful.
ReplyDeleteAngie you are too generous! what a great box o love from maui! My random act of kindness today, letting an elderly gentlemen in front of me in line at the grocery store even though I was in a rush and had to pee like the dickens! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome giveaway! The act of kindness that jumps out in my memory that I've done semi-recently was when a newish blogger whom I'd never spoken to before emailed me and asked me some really detailed questions about setting up RSS feeds, etc. I could've totally blown her off, but instead I took the time to email back and forth with her a few times so that she got all her questions answered.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog. (I also re-designed it. Does that get me an extra point? Lol. Just kidding.)

ReplyDeleteHmm… I can't remember the last person I hugged actually. We're not big huggers in our family. Oooh.. wait… I hugged my cat earlier this evening. Does that count? ;)

ReplyDeleteI always try to do little acts of kindness everyday like letting someone pull in front of me on the freeway, etc. This week, however, I'm coordinating funeral receptions at our church for families who have recently lost their loved ones. It means so much to them to have all of their friends and family together after the funeral service to celebrate the life of their loved ones, and enjoy food and fellowship.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing giveaway! reading your post kind of made me sad that I didn't make a special 2 year anniversary post. In fact, I don't think it even crossed my mind! I know it was in June, but that is all I know :). So, reading your entries I realized I'm all over just about all of them. I guess we have things in common and I stalk you online in the best way possible. Something kind - I'm making a habit of washing someone else's dishes when I go to the sink with mine, and then today someone washed my dishes for me so I could have the first shower. Awesome!

Hi Angie-
ReplyDeleteI am loving your blog, especially since your "facelift"! I appreciate that you write from the heart and the backdrop of HI makes your stories even more appealing to me!
I attempt to pass on small acts of kindness every possible day. Today was the first day of school for me as a teacher and for my kindergarten son. I planned small surprises to make my son's "big day" special and memorable. But as it turn out,my son's enthusiasm for his kindergarten adventures made my day!
I hugged my husband, 2 sons, sad friends as we dropped off our babies to become kindergarteners and my sweet dogs today.
Happy bogging birthday!

Such an amazing giveaway Angie! Kindness is something I try to work on each and every day. One act that sticks out in my mind was helping my neighbor with her yard work. She has a hard time keeping her yard cared for because she has arthritis in her joints. So I've taken it upon myself to help her with that upkeep from time to time.

ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary, Angie! I love the commitment to share your heart, your Hawaii... and some swag. Not gonna lie. ;) Today is still young, but yesterday's act of kindness was to take the heat of an angry parent to shield one of my staff. Not enjoyable, but the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I follow you on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteRandom act of Kindness**My husband and I are currently living in China. There are so many people asking for money laying on the streets. We always try to have conversations with these people. We ask them their name and questions about themselves. They are people, eternal and loved by Jesus. We don't want to just throw money at them or in their hands but know them, love them. We always make a point to bend down low to the ground where they are and look them in the eyes and have a conversation with them. And we always tell them in Chinese that God loves them as we put the money in their hand while touching them in some way, like a hand on their back or by holding their hands. I often think, how long has it been since they've been hugged or touched? It's such a small thing. And even though it may mean nothing to them, it changes me a little bit each time. I'm humbled and reminded of God's love. :) Thanks for sharing your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog via GFC, :)

Act of kindness? Yesterday morning I joined my friend for her baby's appointment at the children's hospital, for moral support (as well as to give her a break during the long hours of waiting) as her baby underwent lots of medical testing.
ReplyDeleteI am a lover of hugs as well! I hugged the hubby this morning as he was heading out the door to work, and I've hugged my little one numerous times today .. just as I do everyday, ha :)
ReplyDeleteI also like you on FB, :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you via #shereadstruth . . . gorgeous blog! My act of kindness . . . I found a ring by Silpada that has a quote on it about following your dreams. And when I know someone who is in a really bad place emotionally, I pass it on to them with the stipulation that once their situation has righted, they pass the ring on to someone else. I wear mine every day to remind me that following my dreams is important.

ReplyDeleteI gave my son a long hug today . . . he's starting KDG on Tuesday and I'm going to miss him!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy recent most memorable act of kindness all happened in one weekend-On a Friday, I purchased the person's Starbucks behind me in the drive-thru lane and later that night I purchased a family's dinner at a local restaurant. That following Sunday someone in the line in front of me at church left money to pay for my purchases at the gift shop. It was so unexpected to have the good karma flow back the very same weekend!
I paid for a stranger's groceries last week. Their card was declined and it wasn't much so I paid.
